I recently used this phrase to describe my blog to someone.
I then proceeded to get a little panicky. Does "tongue in cheek" mean what I think it means?
I have a bad habit of spouting out phrases that are, for some reason, etched into the deep recesses of my mind. The problem is that 45% of the time I have no idea what these phrases actually mean.
Like this one: "bolly bolly shishkamba". I have no idea what this means (or even if it's spelled correctly). All I know is that I use it to say "hurry up...get going...move it, move it, move it!".
I use that one a lot.
I would like to know why these phrases are in my head. It's not like it's a class I took in school...Useless Phrases 101. Perhaps the state should consider offering one. I think it would benefit society as a whole.
Good news though...the www has come through for me yet again.
I found this site so I now have access to 1,500 sayings and phrases and their origins.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I can hardly contain my excitement.
And yes, I would have to conclude that this blog...this very one you happen to be reading...is very...
very, tongue in cheek.

I don't know wheather to be happy you found a website of phrases, or to be afraid. Maybe I need to work on trust.
