Haiku

Everyone seems to be enjoying the five worded sentences, so I thought I'd take it up a notch with a Haiku.
In case you don't know (shame on you), a haiku is a Japanese style of poetry that contains three lines.  The first line is five syllables, the second is seven syllables and the third, five.  Also, they don't rhyme...which could be disconcerting to those of you who expect your poetry to rhyme.

To those people I say, "step outside of your box".  At least for the moment...you can get back in after this blog post if you'd like though it must be starting to smell in there.

Diclaimer:  The following attempt may not be a true Haiku since I'm not sure it paints a mental image for you as they're supposed to, but you get the idea.

Right?

My Haiku
Sweet Millie giggles
waiting for the sweet reward
of candy in hands.
Well?

I should probably stick to pictures.

A syll able one
A syll able these are too
How do you not know?

WSMIL said...

I know but these posts apparantly don't:) Not one of the posts met the Haiku standards you laid out (with one exception) that is why I thought you might actually want to define it:) The only one you got right in your above comment is the last one. you have 4, 6 and 5, sorry:( And obviously I am not smart enough to answer this in Haiku thus back to my loquaciousness.

Are you drunk?

My above post is 5,7,5. I don't know how you came up with 4,6,5. Though you did have me second guessing myself and counting vigorously on my fingers.

Syllable is indeed three syllables...sil uh buhl.

Google it. :)

syllablecounter.com says it is 4,6,5 and I would never have gotten 5,7,5 if I hadn't been on there:) And thanks for the drunk question, I'm sure that will start lots of things.

That's why I posted it...I love a little controversy! :)

This was a notice on the syllable counter:

"This script isn't entirely accurate due to the numerous syllabic anomolies found within the English language (e.g., past, parsed, parted, priest, scariest, burlesque, mosque, bloodshed, wished). The only way to get a 100% accurate count is to do a dictionary lookup. Odd things happen when there's too many line breaks and spaces."

On the other counters, they all say "syllable" is three syllables. ??

It's a conspiracy!

Great to know, I love these new english lessons we are getting. Controversy and conspiracy are my middle name:) Should have checked the fine print and not trusted anything I get on the internet. My Haiku days are now officially over. But I will occasionally revert to Tacos 5 words. All of this is making my brain hurt, and not getting my job done. See ya:)

I love her little shoes, btw.

clever very clever how do you remove stuff, because face it there is so much on here I would like to remove.

PS: there are so many rules that I'm not sure you were wrong, and by the majority you were right, run with that:)

As a completely third party and has no real personal interest in the matter.....i think you all are quite weird! And, might i add, competetive. Whose right? Haha.
