I'm in a quandary.
I keep seeing "awe" as comments on pictures that are cute or warm and fuzzy.
That is not what "awe" means.
"Awe" means to be filled with wonder or reverential respect.
For example: She was filled with awe at the number of people who used "awe" instead of "aww" in their sentences.
Seems pretty straightforward, right?
Except that "aww" isn't a word!
The word would be "aw".
And that doesn't even look like a word.
It looks like part of word.
Like a word that someone started to type but forgot the first half.
"Aww" not only looks like a word but also helps to emphasize the effect the cuteness had on the person viewing it.
I'd even go so far as to say that "awww" could be used for stuff that is more cute than ordinary and "awwww" for ridiculously cute stuff, because you can almost hear the person drawing the "w" out for effect.
But since "aww", "awww" and "awwww" aren't words and I refuse to use "aw" instead, we are at a crossroads.
The only logical thing to do at this juncture is for me to overlook your "awes" if you'll overlook my "awws", "awwws" and/or "awwwws".
You're welcome and thank you.
